Argentinian Hamonica Player
Crispy Aguirre was born in 1987 in Buenos Aires. He is a musician, composer, teacher, and artistic events producer. Passionate about harmonica, he got his first approach to the instrument at the age of 3 through a gift given by his mother.
His enthusiasm and curiosity led him to develop skills in different types of harmonica, such as diatonic, chromatic, chord, and bass harmonica. In an effort to bring the old school harmonica bands back, extinct in Argentina, he founded ‘IL harmonica trio’ in 2011. The trio is still active today with his band mates Lucas Chamorro and Andrés Chorny. The trio, playing both original pieces and covers, focuses mainly on tango and jazz repertoire. Their music has travelled around Argentina and abroad.
To formalize his musical knowledge in 2012, he began his formal studies as instrumental musician specialized in harmonica-tango at the Avellaneda School of Popular Music (EMPA).
In 2017 “Crispy” made a trip to Europe to participate in the World Harmonica Festival. On his way there, he participated in some shows in Barcelona, Mallorca and Paris. During his time at the festival, he received the certificate of excellence for his performance on his own arrangement of “La Última Curda”, a tango by Aníbal Troilo.
The following year the German music house Hohner awarded his video “The Crispy clones”.
Besides his participation in a wide range of music genres and band formations, his teaching vocation led him to present workshops on orchestral harmonicas in Buenos Aires, inland Argentina and Uruguay. At the beginning of 2020 he dictated a clinic on the chromatic harmonica and presented shows in Peru, and later in Colombia. Back in Buenos Aires, he was summoned by the "International Harmonica Institute" to teach classes.
In August he will be dictating a seminar entitled "Tango for harmonica groups" in the 58th annual edition of the prestigious Society for the Preservation & Advancement of the Harmonica (SPAH) of the USA.
